God's Christmas Message

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11, ESV

For many, the Christmas season is a time for traditions and that’s usually a good thing.  But it’s also a time to remember the message our Creator has sent.  Let me share some of my own thoughts and interpretations about the birth of Jesus Christ:

God is personal

The Bible tells us that God is Spirit.  We can see evidence of his existence: the mountains, ocean, and sky.  Creation has order and seasons, a cycle of life.  We think, relate, and even create.  We are made in his image.  But the most striking evidence of God’s personal and relatable nature is that he was willing to be born and live among us.  Scripture tells us that everything we need to know about God in this life we can learn from Jesus.

God loves people

Who’s really responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus?  Was it the Jews who were threatened by Jesus’ non-institutional movement?  Was it the Roman officials caught in a political tug-o-war?  Was it the Devil who created a trap Jesus could not escape?  Was it Judas the traitor?  Was it the sins of the world?  Perhaps an argument could be made for each but Jesus submitted himself as the ultimate sacrifice for all who would believe because God loves people.

God cannot be stopped

He will make sure every person has a chance in spite of himself or herself.  Like many of my readers, I don’t like the gag order many governments are putting on the open celebration of Christianity.  But one thing is sure.  There is no need to worry about God’s message being trampled out.  King Herod tried and it didn’t work.  The crucifixion tried but it didn’t work.  Tyrants since have tried and it didn’t work.

God invites you

It is easy to get lost in the crowd, the hustle and bustle of commercialism.  But make no mistake; God is inviting you to place your faith in Jesus Christ as God the Son and as your redeemer (the one who brings you back to God).  This is a personal decision involving all of you – emotions, intellect, and will.

If you have never responded to God’s invitation, please take a moment and ask him in faith to take over your life.  He loves you and will help you as you continue to seek him.  As you have heard, "wise men still seek him."
