"For God so loved the world...

God is always working

Confession.  Pastors say "God is always working" even if they don't know what they're saying.

I will be 50 in March of 2010 and I can honestly say that I believe God is always working.  The older I have become the more seemingly "junk" I have seen and personally experienced.  Here's the weird thing: I think I am getting better.  I'm not too shocked any more when I see or experience junk but I have come to realize God is always working.

God's work is not about creating Heaven on earth, it's about squeezing darkness out and revealing truth.  Squeezing is not fun but it's tolerable when you believe God is up to something.  He's always working to heal and redeem.

I used to think that some people really have their "act" together and then I realized the word itself revealed the truth even if they were unaware themself.  Self-awareness is a gift from God and it comes from a place of security in God.  Many of us do not find security in God because we sense threat.

When we feel threatened, we are not operating in love but fear.  I once heard a friend of mine say, "I'm about to experience my worst nightmare!"  Sometimes God bring these in our lives so that we might know our worst fears are no threat to God and that we can find comfort in knowing that the Lord is always up to something good even if it is to proove to us that our worst nightmare is a pretender and has no power over us.

We were made for God.  He is everlasting and there is nothing he cannot handle or redeem in his time and in his ways.  I really believe this.  How about you?
