From Africa
Just received this email from some of my new friends who are currently in Africa! September 25, Friday, I woke up and began to cry with joy. It is my birthday, and I am in Africa! I would not want to be anywhere else. God knew when I was formed that I would be in Africa on my 62nd birthday. Isn't that amazing. He has truly gone before us this whole trip.Today we took us on such a journey! The one we have waited for this whole trip. We went into the Jungle! There were highways up to a point but eventually we were on an unpaved road for miles, that led straight into the banana trees. We could barely see the little huts behind the trees. We were traveling to Nyamutera to deliver goats, 125 of them. The road was lined with people walking. The children did know that we were " Muzungus " (moozoongoos) because they would run up to our van to greet us waving wildly. The people were all outside waiting for us and started singing as soon as we arrived. It always brings some of us to tears because it is beautiful. The people were from several community churches and some unchurch. They received goats and Dave Rowland's drama group did a skit on Matthew 25, and they UNDERSTOOD IT!
The mayor told us that we were the first group to visit from the outside. They were so thrilled to have us. When we left it rained again. They said when people come and it rains.... it means it is a blessing from God and He has been doing it all week. Then on the way home we visited an Anglican Church that received mosquito nets and bicycles for pastors. This church actually helps to support the Anglican Church there on 4000 W. Yale that previously bought our church there. How cool is that. Then we all celebrated my birthday at dinner and talked about how amazing our God is! The next 2-3 days was good-will trips to encourage people in places where Calm is at work. Sunday we attended church and once again were so excited to worship with other believers on the other side of the world. Then we packed up and drove back to Mbanda's house. It was Chantal's Birthday, so we celebrated at a Pizza Place, Yea!, You, our team allowed us to be here.
You are on our tongues every day. We speak about you everytime we talk to the people about why we are here. That there are hundereds of you in America that love them and wish they could be here. It always gets an amazing round of cheers and applause from them. So Thank you from me, Jody Lewis, and the team for allowing us to see their faces so full of joy that not just God loves them but someone loves them in America. Love you all. Signing off. GO BRONCOS!!!! ( Dave Anderson updated us on them this morning.)
