Can God be Found?
Reading and Commenting on the Book of Acts
Read Acts 10:44-48
In one sense, God is hidden. In another, His fingerprints can be clearly seen by those with sound mind.
When we are confused or hurting, God can seem distant or even non-existent. When we find no answer to life's mysteries, we become disillusioned and even depressed.
Frankly, there are times when the atheist's words "There is no God!" echo throughout our belief system.
Then there are days when it seems God is so near its as if He is singing directly into the ears of our soul. We feel good. We take in a deep breath of fresh air and then exhale with a sense of peace. "Life is good," we say. The mountains are tall and strong, the stars are shining bright, the waves are pounding, love is in the air, and the newborn's noises are sweet. God is good!
To be filled by God requires the surrendering of your heart, mind, and strength.
There is also a day that transcends good or bad feelings. It's the day when we seek the God who hides. We no longer care about the words of the angry and the pessimist, we thirst for truth. Perhaps our thirst is a mixture of all the good days and the bad. We've tasted both and we sense deep down there is more to know and the "more" is a being, our Creator.
It's on such a day, we find God in a fresh new way. He falls on us because we seek only him, not what we want to hear or feel, but God alone. The result is transforming. God fills us.
It is to give yourself wholly to him in fellowship and obedience. It's the only thing you can do that matters to God. What follows is supernatural: more love, more power, more peace.
Reflection Questions:
What or who is stopping you from seeking an authentic relationship with your Creator?
What causes you to distance yourself from God?
What is the difference between seeking God for an answer versus seeking God alone?
