Andy
Every once in awhile you meet what you believe to be a really good guy. You know he's human and you can sense weakness but its the type that refreshes your soul. That's what happened to me today.
Andy is a worship pastor. We have begun a conversation about working together. I hear he has God-given talent and that's always fun to experience. But I know a lot of people who have talent; unfortunately, they seem to be missing what we really need - a soul God works through.
I have no idea if this working relationship will work out but I hope Andy will become a friend. He's the kind of guy we all need in our lives. Don't get me wrong, he has passion and vision. Would I be interested in working with someone who didn't?
But like many of us, he has been infected with the love of Christ and adjusted by church experiences. Like a lot of my friends, we need God to rescue us from his children! Sounds negative but its realistic.
What we mean by the phrase is that we are to keep our eyes on Jesus and love on his people but not set our expectations on what we may or may not receive. Andy is much younger than I but I think he might have learned some things long before I did.
Thanks Andy for allowing God to breathe on me today through your soul.
